Andràs Gerevich

András Gerevich is a poet and literary translator, also publishing fiction and essays, and working for film and theater productions. He spent his childhood in Dublin and Vienna. He has degrees from the Eötvös Lóránd University in Budapest (Hungary), Dartmouth College (USA), and the National Film and Television School (UK) where he earned an MFA in screenwriting. He teaches courses in poetry and screenwriting primarily at the Budapest Metropolitan University and is a regular visiting professor at both European and American universities and colleges, including Vassar College and Dartmouth College (USA). He was the President of the Attila József Circle (the society for young writers in Hungary), a representative at the European Writers Council in Brussels, edited several literary journals and anthologies, including Kalligram in Budapest and Chroma in London, and worked on a poetry program for BBC Radio. In addition to six volumes of poetry in his native Hungarian, his books have also been published in English, German, French and Bulgarian translation. His poems, literary translations, reviews and essays appear regularly in Hungarian and foreign journals and anthologies. His work has been published in over two dozen languages. He is the translator of anglophone poetry into Hungarian, including the work of Walt Whitman, Frank O’Hara, Seamus Heaney, Louise Glück, Jericho Brown and Nick Laird, among many others.
